Another thrilling volume that kept me hooked from beginning to end. And this ending has quite an impact, even for someone who has been reading the series the whole way through. Also I really liked the character interaction here. Plenty of moves from the major characters that were unexpected, but not out of character, Overall and very well written adventure that keeps the reading pining for more.However there was a highly odd thing here: Some side story about Michonne going AWOL that was never depicted in the previous volumes. This apparently had a big impact on Rick's town, as people in it risked their lives looking for her, but this again, this was actually shown in the prior story What heck, Kirkman? You can't just have a major character go missing and have a big hunt for her "off camera". If something like this has to happen, and it has an impact on the current story, then you have to show it.Also some aspects of the storyline are really starting to bug me, namely the situation with the "whisperers". While the organization is certainly unique, it's just another existential threat to the community that may get into a war with them for some heavily contrived reason, It seems like that's all Rick and his crew ever get to do anymore ever since they settled down in town: Battle a never ending stream of existential threats that pop up one after another. Is this really all the future has in store for Rick and company? Just keep fighting for survival?It shouldn't always be this way, like it was the gang was on the road. They now have a secure town with walls, perimeters, well trained guards, and a huge arsenal. Things should be a lot more safe now, and while the threat of walker herds and bandits will always be a problem, there should be far fewer threats of total extermination.I'd like to see the story take a new direction: Show the community expanding and bringing in more "recruits". Or better yet, how about some "exploration" episodes. Show some expeditions into the Capitol to some government buildings to see if they can find the root cause of the disaster. Why not? Because such a thing wouldn't be necessary for the town's safety or survival? Sure, but that would be kind of the point. That the community has become secure enough to the point where they can actually afford to do things that are not 100% necessary for survival. That would show the re-establishment of civilization better then anything.Well that's just my thoughts on the issue. Let me know what you think.

When you consider the novels, the hit TV series, not to mention the new spin-off, he’s still got the onions to write the story contained in THE WALKING DEAD Vol. 24: Life and Death.We remember from the last volume that Carl has gone off to find Lydia, daughter of Alpha, the leader of the Whisperers, the nomadic tribe of survivors who live among the dead in the wild.Meanwhile, Maggie has survived an attempt on her life by Gregory, the former leader of the Hilltop community.When this volume starts, spanning issues 139-144 of the monthly series, Carl has been captured by the Whisperers, while Rick is away on trade business for the local communities. Back at Alexandria, people are getting ready for a town fair and back at the Hilltop, Maggie is trying to decide what to do with Gregory, even though she knows, in her heart, there’s only one thing TO do. She knows Rick has kept Negan alive all these years, locked up in jail, to prove that there is still some hope for humanity. But Gregory is a different breed and there are still people who can be swayed by him, and that’s something she can’t allow. So he’s going to have to be executed.And speaking of Negan, when one of the people in charge of him doesn’t lock his cell door properly while Rick is away … let’s just say the outcome to that was the LAST thing I expected.But Rick’s got more on his mind when Maggie tells him Carl is missing, and where he’s gone. Rick does what any father would do, he goes after his son, even into enemy territory.But the Whisperers are like no enemy they’ve faced yet. And when Alpha confronts Rick with what they’re capable of, he knows that being let go is truly a mercy. But that’s not the worst of it. Alpha has set up a border dividing the communities’ territory from the Whisperers’, and what Rick finds there is one of the biggest Cliffhangers Kirkman has dreamed up yet. I can’t wait to see what happens next.It’s a rarity to find one creator working so consistently on a single comic project for so long, and still being this strong so far into it. I don’t know how Kirkman manages it, but good God this was a great book.He manages to strike a perfect balance between showing the survivors getting back to some semblance of a life, but never letting us or them forget what’s just outside their gates. And as usual in this series, the truest threats don’t come from the reanimated dead shambling about mindlessly eating any living thing they can get their hands on. They’re still a threat, of course, but if Negan and his crew weren’t enough, the Whisperers show us there is true evil in the world.Charlie Adlard, still hard at in the art department. The black and white still makes it difficult at times to tell some characters apart, but I think Kirkman does what he can to help us out in that area through dialogue. And when Adlard is given a dramatic splash page to awe us with, he always delivers big. So what if there were a few panels here and there that looked either rushed, amateurish, or rushed by an amateur? Overall, Adlard is right next to Kirkman, still delivering month in and month out, over a decade in.When Kirkman jumped ahead in time a few volumes ago, I thought it might be a bad sign for the series, but everything so far has only proved me wrong and instead shown that Kirkman has some big ideas in mind for where this book is headed. For me, if Volume 24 is any indication, it’s only going to keep getting better and better. Originally I didn't think they'd be able to make much of the Whisperers storyline, and thought they'd made a mistake by having everything become so civilized. Good stories thrive on conflict, and while a more peaceful and organized world would be great for Rick and his people, it wouldn't make for a very intriguing story. So, I thought the past few post-Negan volumes had been spinning their wheels a bit.Yeah... that was a set-up. In this one you find out that the Whisperers are the zombie-apocalypse version of a superpower, and they've got the zombie-apocalypse version of an A-bomb, and I don't see how Rick's crew is going to be able to handle this "arms race." And there's a devastating masterstroke move that proves Kirkman isn't afraid to cash in a lot of chips all at once. Events you'd think he'd parcel out to keep the story running all get thrown in your face at once, and it's hardcore, fearless writing. But, I've got confidence that it was the right move. I doubted Kirkman's wisdom at the beginning of the Whisperers storyline and he proved me wrong, so, I'm not second-guessing him anymore!If you've been following the series, and maybe were drifting away from it because things had gotten a little too easy-going... it's time to come back. This will hook you all over again.Now I can't wait for volume 25...

When I first opened the package, I was dismayed to see the new cover after reading the reviews on how this edition was not the same as the '91 version. I'm not sure what the reviewers were talking about. Every page is exactly the same. I have the older version from the library and I checked a dozen or so different pages and they were all exactly the same--words, pictures, everything. The only difference seems to be that the few pages at the end that advertise some of his other books are missing. Everything else is the same. Happy Permaculturing!

When I ordered this book (which is copywrited 1997) they sent me a 2011 version that had a different cover (a colored line drawing of a garden in profile and photos of animals and plants on the top and bottom). It has the same title and the same authors, so I assumed it is the newest version of this book. I gave it one star (as explained below) and sent it back. However, I have now found the 1997 version in the library and I can tell you THEY ARE NOT THE SAME! Do NOT buy the 2011 version. It does not have the same content and is not worth the money.However, I have upgraded this review from one star to four stars now that I have seen the book that was supposed to have been sent. I am a retired City Planner, and I am not new to the ideas of permaculture. I played with sustainable designs and alternative energy in the early '80s when I was just out of college (I joined a non-profit dedicated to alternative "life systems" as we called it back then). While the 2011 book reminded me of those early days when my friends and I were full of utopian (but impractical) ideas of how bathrooms could be set up inside greenhouses attached to the house so grey water humidified the room and feed the plants, and grey water could be used to flush toilets by placing the shower at a higher elevation than the toilet), the older (1997) version listed here is much more practical and detailed about permaculture and how it might be applied.So, I do recommend this book as a good introduction to permaculture, although it is lacking in examples where the ideas have actually been applied. If you really want to see these ideas put into action, take a look at "Sepp Holizer's Permaculture" and Darrel Frey's "Bioshelter Market Garden." Good Stuff!!

Not the same book as advertised. I received the 2013 edition instead of the 1997 version. The newer version doesn't have as much content. It looks like what Jenn described. Her post was on March 12, 2012.

Awesome intro! The Designers manual is far more in depth but if you cant afford it, this one is definitely a great buy.

This is a great introduction and overview of permaculture concepts. The book covers a lot of material for initiates to permaculture. It's sets the foundation for further reading and studies for those who want to get serious though one could take the principles learned just from this book alone and be quite successful in my opinion. You learn how the sun, wind and rain, all play an important role in siting structures like homes, sheds, barns, green and shade houses and also in garden and plant selection and placement. The book also covers designing for temperate, tropical and dry-land environments. It explains how interconnected relationships between the land, climate, soils, water, structures, flora and fauna can be fostered to the benefit of all. There are just so many creative ideas and diagrams in this book that it is worth it for those alone. The book is 8 1/4 X 11 inches with small print that fills the pages with valuable information. I want to live in the sub-tropics of Hawaii and enjoyed the coverage in this regard but, the book also left me day dreaming about living the permaculture lifestyle in other areas like the High Desert of New Mexico and the Pacific Northwest of Oregon. This book touches on all the possibilities, from the home garden with a few animals to commercial orchards, forests, animal farms, aquaculture, urban gardens and more. But don't get me wrong, it does not cover these topics in depth, it gives a thorough introduction to these topics and an understanding that one would likely not gain by reading just one book. Also each chapter ends with a list of references for further reading. In addition there are appendices listing useful permaculture plants, such as nitrogen fixing plants. One appendix even breaks it down into useful categories, such as fruit plants and trees for temperate, topical/sub-tropical and dry areas,pest control plants and finally appendices which list hundreds of the plants mentioned in the text by common, Latin, and by species names. The book ends with a glossary of key terms used in the book and few pages about Bill Mollison (One of the founders of permaculture) and the permaculture institute including info on their 72 hour PC Design Certificate Course. This book is highly recommended!

If one were to have only a single book from which to learn the method, this is it! Once you comprehend the principles outlined here, you can obtain any other specific information you need online. I really wanted to like this book but for me most of the information in here I already knew. Did I pick up a pointer or two? Yes but just a few, not nearly enough to justify adding this book to my collection . If you are new to natural holistic health you may find lots of useful information and will like this book a lot. If you are unfamiliar with supplements you will probably find several suggestions to try. If you've been on this path for a while this book probably won't expand your library of knowledge.I also had an issue with the recipes. I was glancing through them when I noticed one called for butter or margarine. Trans fats have been proven to be the worst type of fat as far as disease promoting. So this book lost a lot of credibility in my eyes when the author says you can substitute margarine for butter and it is still a healthy recipe. After that I didn't even read the rest of the recipes.Lastly and I probably wouldn't have noticed if the book was full of new information for me but I found the book to be poorly edited. The author kept repeating herself, taking multiple paragraphs to write what was about half a paragraph of information.

I like it , great item with fast shipping

The book is about testing sensors. It's a dry read for most but it is what it is. I think it was very informative and provided me with more information to help with my diagnosis.

Be aware that this book is only 65 pages. That's not much info for a relatively high cost.The material as presented is useful and clear. This book covers only the actual sensors involved however. It seems to be part of a larger series. For the money, I would look for a more comprehensive book.

Good stuff, very informational, but not for beginners. You have got to know more than how to change your oil and add air to make it through this some-what above average technical jargon. And I mean that in a good way.

I liked the video but Mandy Conception has a tendency to use the word "Actually" and excessive amount of times .

This book gives you an overview of the OBD II components, tells you about them and how to test them.

Not as in-depth as lead to believe. A great elementary or refresher guide.

I supported this project on Kickstarter and then had the unfortunate lost package incident. Adam was ridiculously kind and helped resolve the issue so quickly, that I wanted to at least acknowledge what a great person / company that he is to work with. It ended up being a happy accident, as I not only purchased these weekly planners, but also several other items that Adam has created. I have to say that everything I purchased has been great. The planner is fun and easy to use. It is a great stocking stuffers or small gift for friends or family. I will absolutely purchase a 2019 version if there is one.

I have been purchasing this planner for several years and am always impressed with how fun and functional the layout is. This year's planner is just the right size (big enough to comfortably jot everything down in, but not so big that it's unwieldy) and built pretty sturdily (especially for a softcover book). Looking forward to using it in 2018!

This planner is hilarious and very thoughtful. I feel like the author has the same kind of sense of humor as me. I have a plain, more "professional" planner that I use for work stuff, but I couldn't pass this one up so I got it as sort of a "positivity" journal. In my other planner I'll put my to-do lists and all that stuff, but in this one I'll jot down what I actually got done (which makes me feel more productive instead of focusing on the tasks I didn't get to) and whatever other positive or funny things happened that day. It's kind of awesome, because I use it way more than I thought I would and I am amazed by how many small, positive things I write down every day.

I've really never bought a planner that I was actually excited about using. Adam is as witty, clever as ever. Also, I love the size of this, perfect to fit in your purse and take with you on the go.

Nice product...fun planner, lots of good sayings, space to write, small enough to fit into handbag or slip into satchel, nice product, will purchase for 2019- scored down one star- needs a hardcover option, would pay the uncharge
