I'm using this as one of the books in my self-made homeschooling curriculum for my son, along with Scholastic and BrainQuest. He had some math and English gaps after moving to the US from a different country. Namely, he hadn't learned multiplication yet.I find this book very thorough and good practice for the skills I am teaching. It requires more writing than the other two workbooks, which is good for improving composition. It's colorful and more engaging than the mainstream public school curriculum we began with. Some of the assignments are more project-like than the practice workbook I expected. These may be helpful for our homeschooling purposes. Science or Social Studies are incorporated into half of the Reading Comprehension section.I have only a few complaints:- They use "not sentence" instead of "fragment".- They use "statement, question, command, and exclamation" instead of "declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory".Overall, I recommend it.

We've had this series since my 19 year old was homeschooled. Now he's an honors student on the chancelor's list in college, and he has moderate Autism. I raised my 17 year old daughter on this series too, and she also has Autism. She is also doing well! Getting ready for her diploma! How's that for a good base book? :) I should get something for THAT review! LOL.... UNPAID HONEST REVIEW HERE!!!!! REWARD ME PLEASE! LOL! Anyway, I buy two, because I have twins, and I like for them to write in the books.

This is my 1st year homeschooling and im using this book to help. So far it has been great!My son works on 10 pages a day and he comes to us when he doesn't understand something. So far though i have been pleased with its lessons and such.Definitely great for new homeschoolers that can't afford those expensive curriculum books yet.Overall a nice book for our lessons.

We use this as our "physical" homeschool curriculum, as most of our work is done with an online program. I wanted something that I could use to present samples of my children's work, if I should ever need to. This covers all of the necessary base curriculum for math and language arts. We do our online work, then follow up with any corresponding lessons in the book. Perfect for what we needed it for.

I love having many subjects in one book, because that makes it easy to travel. My favorite thing so far: the comma lesson. I use the Oxford comma (as any sane person who wishes to avoid total chaos in the universe should do). The comma lesson teaches that both commas are correct, as opposed to ignoring the existence of the Oxford comma. I know I'm a nerd.

We got these workbooks to work with our boys during the summer instead of allowing them to veg the entire time. They absolutely love them and ask to do them daily. It's something that is fun for them but still educational. What more could you want!!

Was very happy with this product over the summer to keep my son up to date and ahead of his 4th grade class. It has helped greatly and found that it easily explained how to solve the problems in the book. My son was ahead when his class went to 2 digit multiplication and division! Couldn't express the happiness knowing that it didn't have common core in it either! :) It's just like when I went to school on the solving!

This world view permeates not only the armed forces but civil society as well, creating a nation that seems to be permanently at war which, in turn, allows the paramountcy of the army in Pakistan which, in fairness, is one of the very few competent and uncorrupted organizations there. Fair takes a historical viewpoint, tracing the rise of this culture back to pre-independence and partition days, especially in the role of the "one-nation theory." Pakistan's emphasis on armed strength, jihad and lack of flexibility in issues such as Kashmir makes it certain that the country will remain militaristic, poor and source of instability in South Asia for the foreseeable future. If this troubled region interests you, this book is a must-read, in spite of the fact that it's a bit of a slog.

This book gives a very comprehensive view of Pakistan today. Thank you, C. Christine Fair for writing this book, since it needed to be written! This books should be compulsory reading material for those dealing with Pakistan so they have a strong footing in history and facts.There are several insights in this book. Examples: Even though the army has never won a war, its definition of “victory” as the ability to challenge India; the enormous resources the military consumes is almost talked about in the media; the ability of Pakistan to play one world power against another to get aid; the analysis on persistent revisionism; the military’s inability manage the country any better than the civilians when it is in power; the inability of US to manage long term vs short term goals; the lack if insight and history of most of the US officials dealing with Pakistan and their potential susceptibility to guilt.Details on the British role in splitting India into two before they left is not addressed in any detail to complete the history. The role Saudi Arabia plays in Pakistan’s radicalization is mentioned only in passing. How Pakistanis are seen by their “brother” Muslims in the middle east, and how most Pakistanis lack a realization of their own duplicity aren’t addressed in any detail. But those are not the focus of the scope of this book. There is also a lot of repetition, but it is not unusual in a scholarly work, and it is left to the reader to grab the points and skip over the repetition. The worst case situation of a nuclear war is mentioned in passing giving pause for thought.The author rightly wonders that with such revisionism (and redefinition of defeat), if the world would stand by and watch when what is considered real defeat by Pakistan army is meted out to it at some point. Some comparison to the German military after WW-I (“we were not defeated”) and why the Allies ended the WW-II in Germany they way they did would have brought some historical perspective here.What Pakistan needs is a focus on the welfare of the civilians, and not the entrenched affluence of the military and the affluent civilian “leaders.” That won’t become a reality till the people demand the military not be a major consumer of the nation’s resources. The author does a very good job of exploring the potential for such change.One more editorial pass (e.g., use of “principle” instead of “principal” in a few places) and removing/reorganizing to reduce repetition, and to make the summary/conclusions more succinct and punchy would have improved the book. It is something for which the reader has to mentally compensate. In summary, it is a 'must read' book for any South Asia watcher.

An Excellent book and very well researched. This book is painstakingly well researched and author has spent considerable amount to effort to write this book. After reading this book I completely understand the behavior of Pakistani Army and its various war strategies.The thing that stands out is that Author takes direct references from Pakistani Army Greenbook.This is a eye-opener for me as I used to get perplexed with the way Pakistani Army use to react.

Professor C. Christine Fair has made a convincing case for the view that the Pakistani Army and State (the Army runs the State in Pakistan) have been unreasonable revisionists from their conception and birth until today. The implications for American foreign policy are clear. The United States should cease providing financial and military assistance to Pakistan and declare it a state sponsor of terrorism. The Pakistani State will not change its behavior unless America and India take drastic measures. The only flaw in the book is the somewhat thin coverage of the sectarian and regional conflicts within Pakistan.

Although the conclusions drawn by Christine Fair has long been known in India, the research is exhaustive and makes the inferences immensely credible. It is a must read for all students of sub continental strategy. That the conclusions are accepted by the world audience is reflected in the relative importance of Indian and Pakistani Prime Minister at world stage. For Pakistan, it is time to take counsel of Hussain Haqqani and get out of the morass that its Army has sunk it into.

Fair correctly observes that starting with the Poonch invasion in September 1947, terror has been a state instrument for Pakistan since inception. Over time this pernicious agenda has expanded to include not only taking back Kashmir but also destabilizing India.The ending is quite depressing (it has the virtue of being 110% true). Pakistan judges victory very differently, it see winning by simply 'resisting' - a very low and tough standard to beat.It is a sad confirmation that for the foresseable future, Indians will have to live with a paranoid, confused neighbor bent on being antagonistic...

My little one likes this book but doesn't ask to read this book at all. I actually have a rule about reading books and have my little one pick one and I pick one. That way, he gets to learn a lesson from a book I read and he gets a fun one to read, too.

This is the BEST Dr. Seuss story - yet most people have never heard of it. Great moral of remembering what we have and appreciating it.My copy is about worn out. I just bought a copy for each of my grandkids.

Really uplifting for any age going thru a tough time. Am ordering more copies to give to kids and adults alike when a little boost in spirit is needed.

For my daugther's first birthday we have her the Dr. Seuss book "Happy Birthday to You"... and I wanted to keep up the tradition and I found "Did I Ever Tell you How Lucky You Are?" for her second birthday. Yes, it is pretty long, but my daughter has a really good attention span and can sit through the entire book if she is so inclined (usually at bedtime). It is a traditional Dr. Seuss book with a good message - albeit maybe a little heavy for a two year old (I never read this book before I bought it). But even knowing all of that I am very happy with my purchase. And compared to may others my daughter is very lucky and it is important that she knows that.

I buy this book for every new baby I know and kid's birthday party we go to. Almost all my sons' friends have this book now :) Such a fun story with a great message.

Always a favorite of mine when I was a kid, this book helps remind kids that they don't have it as bad they believe they do, while still being silly and fun.I highly recommend this if you have a kid who is always griping about things because either: A) someone has more stuff than they do/they don't get every single thing they want.orB) because you have the audacity to require them to do things like homework or chores.Start reading this to your kids as early as possible and it DOES help them have a positive outlook, especially if you can also 'buy in' to the message; you're never too old to remember that "Some people are much-much, oh ever so much-much, so muchly much-much unlucky than you!"

I love to read Dr. Seuss to my kids due to the rhyming and rhythm. This one is a bit more difficult to read smoothly, however, so it was not quite as enjoyable.The pictures are among Seuss's best. This was the primary reason my four-year old son almost paid attention to the entire story.

Possibly one of the best Dr. Seuss books, and at a great price. Lots of commentary on life that is lost on the kids, but gives the adults a chuckle.

While studying Christian Ministries at Emmanuel College in GA. I was required to read Grasping God's Word by J. Scott Duvall and J. Daniel Hays for my Biblical Interpretation class. That book was so influential to my understanding on how to exegete Biblical passages. When I heard that there was a book to help me proclaim God's Word that followed the same methods, I had to purchase it. After reading the first chapter I had to email my past Professor and recommend it.Carter, Duvall, and Hays have done an excellent job equipping ministers to biblical prepare sermons that will connect with their congregations. I would highly recommend this book along with Grasping God's Word it you sense a call into the ministry or if you are Professor or Minister who teaches Homiletics/Preaching.

Now in its second edition, this book by Terry G. Carter, J. Scott Duvall, and J. Daniel Hayes lives up to its subtitle: a hands-on approach to preparing, developing, and delivering the sermon. It strikes me as a success because of its clear value as a first textbook for someone learning how to put together a sermon. It does better than most at keeping a big-picture view as it assembles the pieces of the sermon. There are other books that, perhaps, dive deeper into the details – the works of Jerry Vines comes to mind – but this one may be “just right” for a wide array of readers.The book is divided into three parts: eight chapters on developing and preaching a sermon, three chapters on preaching the New Testament, and four chapters on preaching the Old Testament. Duvall and Hays had earlier produced a hermeneutics textbook entitled Grasping God’s Word, which is also published by Zondervan, so this book assumes an understanding of hermeneutics and goes straight into putting together a sermon after that work has been done.The first chapter introduces their 11-step sermon process. Chapter 2 covers the first five steps: grasp the meaning of the text in their town, measure the width of the interpretive river, cross the principlizing bridge, consult the biblical map, and grasp the text in our town. As you can see, they word this information in practical terms aimed at our maximum understanding. Again, they avoid being either too shallow or too deep and succeed at being “just right”.After all that wonderful help for putting the sermon together, the other two parts on the Old and New Testaments look at the genres and their unique challenges for the preacher found in each. Most of these were wonderful. The value of the chapter on preaching Revelation might correspond to your own prophetic viewpoint. Excellent Book. Great information to combat the first year of errors that I have done many times over. Now with my new company I am passionate about the products and want to avoid some of the pitfalls that have sabotaged my other attempts. This has given me ideas as an outline so that I implement a plan. Also reading about some of the past mistakes of those who have made it and what they did to keep going has inspired me to keep at this until I succeed. I no longer fear that tiny little word "NO" and instead look at it as just an everyday part of network marketing but it doesn't throw me for a loop (well most of the time). A definite read for beginner and seasoned who might be discouraged.

Reading several of the other reviews it's obvious that this book is highly appreciated by food experts. My perspective is one of a food enthusiast with little real knowledge. This book is fantastic. The information flows in a way that make me feel smarter just reading. The content has/is persuading me to not only try fermented foods, but to consider making them, all a pretty big leap for me.

So many reasons to love this book:1. It is a beautiful book. The paper, photography, font choices etc. make it really pleasant to read and something you could have out on the counter in your kitchen.2. The recipes are easy to follow and they sound delicious (I haven't tried them all yet, so can't say whether they taste as good as they sound...)3. It feels like Alex and Raquel are right there with you, because their writing is so friendly and approachable.4. The science at the beginning of the book (and throughout in recipes) is really interesting.Definitely a great book to own, and a really nice alternative host gift to wine or flowers.

I'm crazy about this book. It is fantastic!! Very educational, yet simple and clear. Perfect for newbies to fermentation. Very well-written.

The book is a good read, easy to follow, was fermenting the same day the book came, have several books on fermenting, this will be my go to book.
