Great book... Lays out the enterprise way of building a business intelligence solution.. not just how to build dashboards and ad hoc analyses.The datasets aren't provided, but you should know how to install SQL Server Dev Edition (free) and restore an AdventureWorksDW sample database from a bak file from SQL Server Management Studio (free) if you're in this field of work.

This is the best book I have yet seen for those who already have some experience with Power BI in an enterprise setting, and seek to enhance their skills. The author uses his recipes to teach fundamental principles as well as Power BI features. The recipes in the book are well-chosen and immediately useful to the busy practitioner. Highest recommendation and congratulations to the author for his outstanding work.

To be fair, I think the book content is good. But the Kindle edition is horribly formatted, to the degree that almost unreadable (especially on Kindle Reader on Windows). Very disappointed.

For enterprise users with an intermediate background on analysis server, DAX and power bi. Not for beginners at all. Examples files are only available from chapter 6 onward. Previous chapters will require that you connect to online databases without specifying detailed means for doing so for beginners

Simply put, this is a wonderful book. I am an intermediate Power BI user, and I am basically reading it cover to cover because I don't want to miss a detail. I have found so many delightful gems within the pages. The author not only presents tactics for utilizing Power BI, but also strategy for overall product usage that will benefit my clients tremendously in the simplicity, efficiency, elegance, and relevancy of the reports and solutions that I am enabled to create. This book upset me because of the animal abuse part of it. I still read it because I love Kendall, Pauline and Dot, and to offset the part that upset me were the wedding preparations! That was great and so long coming. We caught up with many past characters, and again there was a crossover with the authors last, wonderful series. Worth reading, even if I skimmed over the 'hard' parts so I probably missed a bit. Delighted to see that the baddies got their comeuppance!

Another excellent addition with this tenth addition to the series as our heroine,along with Pauline & Dot, arrive in Alaska just days before the famous Iditarod race. Reader will learn about the race, the dogs and their care as they enjoy confronting the murder of one of the racers. Believable plot and characters. Emkpuab;e read!

Kendal and Pauline have a casual way of sleuthing that I find could lead them into harm's way, they need to check their facts before they put their foot in their mouth. An interesting and mildly intriguing mystery, I don’t know, but I find the story a bit rushed, with a few blotches, all in all, it was an entertaining read.

Pauline and Kendell are in Alaska on this trip. Everything is going pretty well, even the whole gang is there. Then a race sled dog is killed. Now, who would want to kill a dog?! Oh and let's not forget the wedding. Brrr! In Alaska, bring your warm jammies people! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Iditarod racers and their dogs, Kendall and Jack, Pauline and Dot, Felicity and Jefferson and other assorted characters come together to put on a wedding for Kendall and Jack and solve the murder of one of the racers.Fun book to read.

This is another great Kendall and Pauline adventure. I just love this series. The drama that fillows these two is fun. To see how many lives these teo touch and the support they have is great.

I really enjoy the stories in each new adventure. I look forward to reading the next book. I am so glad that it is continuing on.

Another fabulous story, I highly recommend this whole series.🤣😍🥰

I just received my book and, although the content seems like it would help, the only problem that I anticipate having is with regard to the binding. As a perfect-bound book, it makes it difficult to actually write in it without breaking the binding so that the book will lay flat. I will update my review as I begin to use the book.

My handwriting's still nothing to, um, write home about but it really has improved a lot with this book. I've only done the first section of exercises and haven't had time to get to the rest, but I like the practice format and the clear examples and how the authors incorporate some very interesting historical information about orthography and writing systems from around the world. It certainly makes the practice process entertaining and educational.

Just started, so far a real adventure.

I was frustrated that I couldn't write quickly and legibly. The cursive I was taught in elementary school was too elaborate and slow (cursive is supposed to be faster than printing). I wrote faster but my writing was so bad, I had trouble reading it myself. I felt funny learning to write again as an adult. But this book helped me to write faster than I did before, but at the same time, so clearly that even others could read my writing. Now I enjoy writing and am happy with the way it looks.

Was not what I expected, very thin. Not much help to my son.

I have five sons. The only one of the older ones who never uses joined-up writing is the one to whom I taught looped cursive, before I learned of italic. The other 4 learned Italic through the Getty-Dubay series and are often complimented on their nice penhand.A K-9 charter school we started here in the Rocky Mountain states finally switched over to Getty-Dubay Italic and the improvement in the children's penhand has been noticed by everyone.Looped cursive programs do not offer the content and historical background that the G-D series does. In every book children learn about the history of letters, learn about grammar, poetry, history, geography. It is a very complete program and also VERY FAIRLY priced. I usually have my sons do a book more than once and it is affordable to do that as each book is less than $7.Most children create a form of italic on their own, and abandon looped cursive methods as soon as they are allowed to. It makes sense to teach them the real thing - a single program, an italic method that will leave them with good printing and legible joined letters.The gentleman who complained about being abused by teachers for his penmanship was really someone who had bad teachers. . . not someone who was taught a bad penmanship method!!!!! Bad, stupid teachers don't make a program or system bad.Get just one of these books (book E, F, G) and review it yourself.

This is a thought-provoking book about foreign policy, with a rather dense texture.The authors define geoeconomics (GE) as “the use of economic instruments to promote and defend national interests, and to produce beneficial geopolitical results; and the effects of other nations’ economic actions on a country’s geopolitical goals” (@20). GE is “both a method of analysis and a form of statecraft” (id.), but it is neither geopolitics per se, nor is it foreign economic policy.To illustrate (examples are mine, not the book's): (1) If geopolitics is “a method of foreign policy analysis that seeks to explain, understand and predict international political behavior primarily in terms of geographical variables” (@24), then relatively speaking it emphasizes the “geo” while GE emphasizes the economics. For example, consider how you might impose more liberal human rights in another country. If you were Napoleon (to the extent his legal system tended to follow his conquests), or perhaps the US in 2003 (to take the then-prevailing narrative about the tyrant Saddam at face value), you’d use military force; whereas if you were taking a GE approach, you might use economic sanctions. (2) To see the difference between GE and foreign economic policy, contrast the case above with one where punitive economic methods, such as a “border tax,” are used not to force human rights improvements, but for coercing the renegotiation of a trade treaty like NAFTA, in order to fix trade imbalances. Use of economic instruments for economic ends isn’t GE.The authors do acknowledge, though, that the distinctions sometimes get fuzzy, particularly between economic interests and security interests. Again, to illustrate with my own examples: Suppose the US were to repudiate NAFTA, or to impose an economic blockade on Mexico, each on the grounds of getting a “better deal” for the US; and suppose this caused the Mexican economy to collapse. Then an impoverished and angry population on our border could create national security problems, not just economic ones. Conversely, trade that helps maintain economic stability in Mexico can be helpful for improving security. And that seems to be the case: even during the 2016 US political campaign, with its incendiary accusations of criminals coming across the border from Mexico, no one was claiming that *terrorists* from Mexico were contributing to “this American carnage.”After establishing what GE is and isn’t, the authors next discuss the main instruments of GE: trade policy, investment policy, economic and financial sanctions, cyber attacks, development aid, financial and monetary policy, and energy and commodities. The rest of the book then focuses mainly on the policies of China, Russia and the US. The gist is that China and Russia are very good at using pretty most of the instruments in the GE armory; whereas the US, while it once was proficient at GE, in recent decades has abandoned it in favor of using economic means for economic ends, and military means for geopolitical ends.This isn’t a fast read at all — every paragraph is a dense thicket of facts. And if facts are fast becoming objects of nostalgia as I write this, that isn’t the only wistful aspect to the book: one of the authors had served as an ambassador under Secretary of State Clinton, who had appeared to be open to restoring a GE perspective to US policy. Perhaps the authors were hoping that this book would help to shape statecraft of the 21st Century Clinton White House. In any case, judging by the early weeks of the Trump Administration, the book’s lessons don’t seem yet to have fallen onto receptive ears: the past segregation of economic means for economic ends and armed means for geopolitical ones looks like it will continue for a while.But there’s a more important respect in which this book carries resonances of the 2016 election. Usually GE measures are meant to change the behavior of the leaders of the target nation. But what about the impact on ordinary people? The authors never consider at length the effect of economic measures on the general population of the target countries. Their perspective is very aerial and lacking a human touch — exactly the sort of mandarin attitude that made it hard for people to warm up to the Clinton candidacy. While I’m agnostic about whether the Trump Administration will improve on this (especially given that some advisers, while ditching academic theory, seem to have replaced it with not just aerial but celestial visions of apocalyptic holy war), it’s easy — and a bit chilling — to see why the Clinton team had such a tough time.A couple of minor issues: The authors call John Maynard Keynes an “early neoclassical economist” (@178), when he was neither a neoclassical, nor, if he had been, would he have been an early one. The book has extensive endnotes, but no list of references. And the title is puzzling. If it’s intended to be from Clausewitz, it’s mangled: Clausewitz wrote that war is *politics* by other means. Michel Foucault ironically inverted the formula, to the effect that politics is “war by other means.” Could this be what the authors meant? But actually, this book doesn’t adopt such a paranoid vision at all.The authors’ personal politics notwithstanding, the book itself is even-handed and of value to a wide audience, provided readers have the patience to swim in its streams of policy prose. It certainly will have you thinking more deeply about the nightly news, and about whether there might be a better way for the US, or whatever country you live in, to conduct its foreign affairs.

For me, the most valuable, albeit alarming and depressing, section of the book is the cataloging of the relentless Chinese geoeconomic assaults on most of the southeast Asian nations and on many other countries worldwide. Without shouting or hyperbole, the authors report how the Chinese have insinuated themselves so deeply in the economies of many countries, that these now face ruinous retaliation if they take positions opposing Chinese actions. The US, while employing geoeconomics tools in the past, has largely abandoned them in favor of military resources and options. A big reason for this, although not fully explored in the book, is that geoeconomic policies in furtherance of US foreign policy might adversely affect corporate interests and profits. China, on the other hand, views geoeconomic policies that may make no immediate economic sense as a powerful, relatively inexpensive tools, when employed in tandem with military power.Another chilling chapter details Chinese and Russian successes in cyberwarfare, and explains why the US has the most to lose in this arena.The final section of the book outlines a program of geoeconomic policies the US could adopt to respond to our adversaries’ actions and to promote our own interests, such as passage of the TPP and steps to counteract Russian adventurism. Sadly, the prospect of these ever being implemented seems vanishingly remote after today’s events

At times I felt like I was reading poetry. Turning a jejune topic into a captivating page-turner is the stuff of magic.I particularly liked the historical perspective of Geoeconomics. An excerpt:"In return for favorable borrowing terms, the British crown under William III provided legal sanction for London credit markets and judicial enforcement of contract obligations, even obligations against the crown. By binding the crown as subject to credit obligations, British rulers succeeded in opening up new, vastly more affordable financing streams and flexibility that “in turn greatly strengthened its options in war and other forms of international competition,” Suri explains. 163 The chief lessons learned by William III and his successors are at least as relevant today."!

According to the authors, 'The United States is now dealing with a set of states thoroughly comfortable employing most of the tools of geoeconomics to advance state power and geopolitical goals, often in ways that undermine U.S. national interests and chip away at the U.S.-led rules-based economic order.' (P.202) These states, notably China and Russia and other authoritarians are forming a 'league of dictators'. To continue U.S. primacy, policymakers are urged not to separate politics from economics in formulating foreign policies.The practice of geoeconomic manipulation is brought to light by concrete cases. However, geoeconomics is changing the ways that states project and seek power around the globe.

The author points out that the US has forgoten that a systematic use of economic instuments to accomplish geopolitical objects and increasingly resorts in the use of military force.That may work for less powerful countries but it will be impossible to attempt it with China.

A bit of bias in emphasizing American prominence over others, though it acknowledges the disadvantages of the current military budgets. China's growing role is reluctantly acknowledged. I used this textbook for a late-start community college course.What bothers me the most about this textbook are the numerous grammatical mistakes and incomprehensible sentences that occur throughout the text. One in front of me right now (pg 395) discusses "payments to Philippine customers officials". I'm guessing this should have been "custom officials"? While I don't pretend to have perfect grammar myself, I often find my concentration broken by syntax errors in the text.As other reviewers have also mentioned, the chapters seem overly-long and dry and the text is entirely black and white with no colors or pictures. What also stands out are certain organizational issues, which include certain topics popping up every chapter rather than just having one chapter address the subject. Another issue is the authors citing academic research without providing enough context (such as not even providing the scholar's first name). I also take issue with their over-reliance on the ethical models of Rest and Kohlberg while only giving token acknowledgement to criticisms of these models.

This book's saving grace is that it has a detailed enough index to cut through the noise. I'm not one to judge textbooks very often, but I really felt compelled to here. I believe the authors are trying to produce something of a hybrid academic philosophy work that is organized like an accounting textbook, however much of the practical takeaways are somehow upstaged by one-line examples and over-the-top theoretical subjects. Overall there is far too much text in any given chapter which one can see from the very small font. I believe the authors present too many broad frameworks and should probably just pick one or two that they believe are central and solidify an understanding of that. It seems as though it is hastily put together as the transitions to paragraphs just seem unnatural and clumsy, not to mention the strange alternating of font size, bold, italics as seen on page 17 and 18. Overall a useable book, but really misses the mark in terms of actually teaching anything.

Well-written text. But the chapters are often far too long and contain a lot of re-tread of materials from internal auditing and financial auditing courses. There are some mammoth cases in this book - fine if you have the time to do them, but for a 10 week course, you can skip over a good deal of what the authors include. If you're a working professional and need to brush up, this might be a good text to use. It seems that much of the material in this text is stuff you can find on the internet in much more abbreviated form.I like this text but don't feel that warmly toward it.

This is probably the worst textbook I've ever used. It's long-winded and so poorly organized, it makes learning about these topics way harder than they need to be. For example, there's a section in chapter four that details the investigations of the accounting profession. In the 1977-1978 section, it starts talking about the formation of the PCAOB - something that happens decades later! And every time the book goes to define a term, it starts off with "There is no accepted definition for _________" and then blathers on and on with what the term /might/ mean before finally settling on "But we think X has the best definition when she describes it as y." Just start with that! Don't make me read pages of stuff that you're just going to disregard anyways!I honestly suspect the only reason my class is using this textbook is because my professor knows one of the authors, considering how defensive she gets whenever the class expresses how terrible this book is.

This textbook was rented for a 10-week accounting course. This book is frustratingly difficult to read because there's no proper organization of content. Chapters are long and overloaded with information. Many times I caught myself losing track of what I was trying to learn because the text keeps dragging on, uses too many examples or re-introduces information you've read before in a confusing way.The textbook contains fancy words that only makes the reading difficult. Also, I feel that certain passages in the textbook could have been written in a more simple and concise way, however if that was the case, the textbook would have been significantly shorter.The textbook is printed in black and white. There are no pictures, just tons of paragraphs crammed in each page (except for boxes of bulleted information). If you're a slow reader or have trouble focusing, this textbook won't suit you. As you progress, the chapters become gradually harder to read and you may require more time to understand it.If you are a fast reader, then you will most likely have no issues. If you don't, good luck.

I really liked the class that I had to take this with, but the book was a little underwhelming. I feel like I got a lot more out of the concepts this book is based on and not so much out of the "practical" applications of the book. But, it is a good enough high-level overview for me to recommend it strongly.

Kindle makes it super easy to read this book. Well organized and easy to go through. I love that even though I rented the book I can have acces to it on my laptop and my iPad. Not limited to just using one device makes it really easy on a college student.

I selected this text to teach an Accounting Ethics class. It is just OK. I had trouble finding a decent text for this course. This book does have case studies in the back of each chapter which is really the only way to teach this course without boring the students to death. The book spends too much time on differnt theories of ethical thought and not enough time on the Accounting profession and the challenges there.

It was a very interesting and intriguing book. Read this with an open mind. There is a formula on finding your life path number to know about your life direction. It also has a chart on what your number says about relationships and compatibility. I did the calculations for myself and my family and it was accurate. It is spot on for so many things in life. They were accurate to me. They speak to me. I got to learn more about my finances, motivation, and talents. Amazing content in terms of depth and accuracy.It was very engaging that kept my interest on this book from beginning to end. This book will intrigue you to explore further.If you are a beginner of numerology, this will help you learn about it. It will guide you in the right direction on how to use the information to help yourself and your life.

I was looking for a primer on Numerology and thought this book might offer a quick overviewMy guess is the author read a book or two about the topic, failed to understand much and thought "I can write a book myself and make some money"Simple step by step instructions for calculating significant numbers are completely erroneous and self-contradictory.Chapter 11 (i.e. page 83 onward) provides a perfect example of complete rubbish. I am not referring to the interpretation of any numbers. I am referring to the unintelligible explanation of how those numbers are derivedNumerology, like astrology and tarot already contain a ton of subjectivity and truisms. Add miscalculation of supposedly pivotal numbers to that mix and you have utterly meaningless BSNote to the author: If you wish to contact me directly for more specific examples, feel free. I would be happy to show them to you so that you can clear up any confusion in your next edition

It says here I am a dynamic person, extremely friendly and a deep thinker. I am also a family oriented person which is true. It also says I have good luck when it comes to finances. This book is a good source of motivation for success and for anyone who wants to know what their birth number means and aside from that if there would be any negative feedback then it gives you the reason to be more cautious. Honestly I don't really believe in luck but this book can be a very good guide towards success and what you aim in life. After reading this book I feel more positive with myself and what I can do as it determines what kind of a person I am which I rarely hear from anyone.

I love numbers that's why I have browsed this book. This book is an average book for me. I never thought that the number of your birthday has meaning and the likes. I kinda not totally agree on some of its content because I believe that your future depends on what you are doing today not just by numbers of your birthday or names. This book is entertaining, though. If you do not have something to read on your free time, this is a good book to read. Something new can be learnt from this book just like other ordinary books. This is good for number lovers. This book does not have complex calculation so nothing to worry. I love the color of this cover because I love brown, but ignore the color. Just focus on its content and you will be entertained.

My birthday is 8th of march and I really love the result and the information I get from it because it suits me a lot. I also learn my true self here because I just feel it. In case you haven't fully understood yourself, a little confused over your life's path, still questioning your life's purpose and how to really live a full life, I believe numerology can help you get started. There's are many ways to discover yourself, and I believe in exploring your options. The first few pages of this numerology already thrilled me while reading my family's birth path numbers.
