I like this series, but I am getting pretty frustrated with the jerk being able to assault a police officer's wife - repeatedly - without being charged or arrested. Get real. I think I will take a break from these ridiculous plot lines. Goldy needs a can of Mace, a spine and some counseling about what she's teaching her son, which is that it's okay to physically and verbally abuse women. I'm done.
Another outstanding murder mystery by the talented Diane Mott Davidson. She not only conjures up a plate of delicious murder, she also cooks up wonderful recipes for the reader's pleasure. All of the recipes featured in the life of her amateur sleuth, Goldy Schulz (Professional Caterer), are included in the book so the reader can have more of a "being there" experience, if desired. This novel stands on its own, but if read in sequence with the rest of the Goldy collection, the broader, more complete story of Goldy's life unfolds. So much fun!
I have all the Goldy Series books..I love reading them as a.. light reading.. funny amateur detective always in the wrong place.. type situations...and I love the recipes...
I love Diane Mott Davidson's books they are such fun to read. They blend mystery with real life experiences and a few good laughs as well, if you have never read one of her books pick one up and be prepared to become hooked!
I began reading Diane Mott Davidson's books years ago as they are enjoyable Mysteries that are an easy, enjoyable read that never fails to keep me interested in the characters home life, occupation, Family and interesting Culinary knowledge all wrapped up with her engaging way of spinning a story using humor, of course mystery, sharing of recipes and heart. I would recommend any reader to pick up her books in order so that they are able to step in to "Goldies" World and enjoy some very fun and interesting ways She is able to run her life, Family and Catering Business. Love this Woman's work.
I'm getting pretty tired of whiny, pouty, in-charge-of-it-all Arch....he's becoming quite a chip off the old block....I mean, really, if my ex-husband was beating up on me and breaking into my house, my kids would have a fit! They'd probably kill him...not whine when he landed in jail....I liked the earlier Goldy books and I was happy when she found a great guy to marry, but, the story line with the Jerk and that bratty kid has worn pretty thin.Goldy needs to realize that catering to every one of Arch's whims does him no service....who will care when he gets into the real world and he moves out or pouts for weeks on end.I won't be reading any more Mott Davidson.
The mysteries and the recipes both are always entertaining. I don't try a lot of the recipes but I'm in awe of them. Started reading this one and could not stop until I was finished.
I can never get enough of Goldy. I laugh at her, cry with her, feel her emotions and I relate to her feelings for her son. She's so well loved by her friends and she tries so hard to help people...problem is, she keeps getting herself into trouble one way or another. I think Goldy is brilliant and I just wish she lived in my neck of the woods. I'd call her for a catering job ! Grilling Season is one of Davidsons' best.
