I have owned several Ventriloquism manuals and although written with good intent I find it hard to practice on my own and most are outdated as far as methods of practicing. I even own one written and signed by Clinton Detweiler whom I had the privilege of knowing and residing in the same town as him and his wife. Ventriloquism Made Easy is a well written and easy to understand instruction guide and I appreciated that it did not overwhelm me with too much extra information. All I wanted to know was how to start learning ventriloquism and some practical uses for it other than Church and Children's birthday parties.

My 9 year old nephew enjoyed this book so much. He loved to show off his new ventriloquism skills for us.

Don't be fooled by the title. Excellent wide range coverage of all aspects of ventriloquism. A must have book.

While this book is not as comprehensive as some books on ventriloquism, it offered some valuable basic "how-tos" at learning the art. Every part of this book had worthwhile information that a budding ventriloquist can use in his/her at. I appreciate the author taking his time to share his experiences that he's picked up along the way.

I purchased this book for my daughter's 9th birthday from Amazon along with a ventriloquist dummy and several ventrioquism DVD's. The book is such a major disappointment.The author is too busy using the book as a means to push his religion and finding Jesus to offer anything of substance.This very thin book is filled with fluff. He tells the reader how to record an engagement in their calendar. In another section the author even writes out the alphabet not once, but twice for those poor folks who are not sufficiently familiar.A real dissapointment!

This is a very well written and good book on the topic. However, it is primarily a political study of the fall of the Ottoman Empire in World War I. It is not so much a military study.The author, who teaches at Oxford, has looked at the Ottoman Empire and how it handled World War One. He works in Turkish and Arabic. There are many individual vignettes from individuals at ALL levels of society, from political policy carried on at the highest levels, to the various campaigns and the fighting that resulted. It is well-illustrated volume but includes only a handful of strategic maps of the Empire’s battlefields.The political history is excellent. The author has a firm grasp of the Young Turk movement, the JIHAD aspect of the Turkish war effort and the impact of the Arab on the Turk (and vice-versa). His discussion of the Armenian genocide is balanced and accurate and unlike many studies, does NOT ignore the brutal killing of thousands of Assyrians. An entire chapter is devoted to this and will inhibit sales in Turkey!But it is not so much a military study. The German battlecruiser GOEBEN & British battlecruiser INFLEXIBLE become battleships. The small old French battleship REQUIN becomes a cruiser, HMS AMETHYST becomes French (p137) and Ottoman losses are often based on old Allied accounts. German Admiral Souchon is mentioned once in the book, ignoring his large impact in the Black Sea. Edward Erickson’s I ORDER YOU TO DIE is in the bibliography but seemingly not consulted in some of the areas covered in the book. The Turkish Official military studies appear to be completely missing as well.The author does NOT note that after the Allied naval assault at the Dardanelles, in which they suffered major losses, the Turks were virtually out of artillery ammunition. One of the major postwar hindsight laments was that a second naval assault was not quickly made. The Allied losses could easily be made up while the resupply of vital ammunition was difficult in the extreme.This is a very good book, worth the read, much from the Turkish and Arab point of view. Definitive – no. Would a definitive study be longer – yes (and hence probably not published . . . )

Having read quite a few books this past year on World War I and Scott Anderson's excellent book on Lawrence of Arabia, this book offered a chance to read through many events, but from the Ottoman perspective. As the author mentions, he visited Gallipoli and realized that the Turkish losses at that epic battle are not widely known.Thus, the roots of the author's efforts to address this neglected area of history. The book is very well-written and gives a wide lens to the beginning of the end of the Ottoman Empire through the War itself. Some of the events described herein are pretty well-known, but otherwise I was blown away by how much I had no clue had really taken place. Examples include the Balkan Wars and the Ottoman effort against Italy in 1912-1913. These events influenced later decisions from both the Ottoman and Allied perspective and are well integrated.This is a well-written and easily read history. I found myself many times considering events from an alternate view of the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire and reading about battles only heard of from the perspective of the victor. This is not juts about Turkish losses, but of Arabs, Armenians, Greeks and others. Even though I am pretty knowledgeable about World War I history, there were many events I had really never heard of before. Even seeing many pictures of Ottoman soldiers in battle was revelatory and unexpected. The First World War was in many ways more cataclysmic than WWII in terms of the changes in the world and this book is a great expository on how that happened.This is an important book and well worthwhile to read for the general reader interested in the subject as well as the academic or policy specialist looking for more information to add to the body of knowledge of even present day Eastern Europe and the Near East.This book is recommended. An excellent companion book is by David Fromkin, A Peace to End All Peace, to read after this book.

The center he runs is unique in that it is comprised of over 45 interdisciplinary faculty members from diverse areas, all of whom are dedicated to care, outreach, education and research. Dr. Okun has been dedicated to this interdisciplinary care concept, and since his appointment as the National Medical Director for the National Parkinson Foundation in 2006, he has worked with the 43 international NPF centers of excellence to help foster the best possible environments for care, research and outreach in Parkinson disease, dystonia, Tourette, and movement disorders. Dr. Okun has been supported by grants from the National Parkinson Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the Parkinson Alliance, and the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease Research, and he currently runs the online international “Ask The Expert” forums, on the National Parkinson Foundation website. The forum is a free service that answers questions from every continent (except Antartica) and has over 10,000 postings in the last 3 years alone. Dr. Okun has dedicated much of his career to the development of care centers for people suffering with movement disorders, but has also has enjoyed a prolific research career exploring non-motor basal ganglia brain features, and he has participated in pioneering studies exploring the cognitive, behavioral, and mood effects of deep brain stimulation (DBS). Dr. Okun holds the Adelaide Lackner Professorship in Neurology, has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles and chapters, is a published poet (Lessons From the Bedside, 1995, available at Amazon.com), and has served as a reviewer for more than 25 major medical journals including JAMA and the New England Journal of Medicine. He has been invited to speak about Parkinson disease and movement disorders at the White House and all over the world. Dr Okun has done it again by bringing hope to Parkinson's patients as myself with his second book. He's written a simple to read book explaining a very optimistic and promising future for Parkinson's patients. The "10 BREAKTHROUGH THERAPIES for PARKINSON'S DISEASE" is a must read for PD patients, their family and care givers. His "Take Home Points" at the end of each chapter I found to be an excellent and simple summarization of his detailed and up to date information he writes about in the chapters. It helps my future outlook to read and understand these breakthroughs that are happening to alleviate the PD symptoms, slow down and eventually stop the progression. Thank you Dr Okun for your passion in your work for Parkinson's patients!

Outstanding! I couldn't put this book down. The author is a doctor who has the ability to write in a layman's language. You don't need a medical dictionary to understand. I read this book as if it were a juicy mystery. I have Parkinson's and will be getting a DBS In February 2016. This book was the most uplifting, informative, easy to read and understand non-fiction book I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I bought the first copy for my Kindle and just ordered a paperback copy to lend out. If you, or a family member, or friend has been diagnosed with Parkinsons, this book will give them hope. It will also provide information on what's available now along with what the future may bring.

You can learn only so much in your brief office visits. This book was very educational and allowed me to ask better questions at my last doctors visit. I would not only recommend this book to PD patients but to the Neurologists that are treating them. The more informed a patient is the more productive the dialogue with your Neurologist will be. I just ordered Dr. Michael Okun's book "Parkinson's Disease 10 Secrets to a Happier Life" and can't wait to read it.

I did not find anything amazing in this book. You can find much better resources online (such as the Michael J. Fox website) which are more up to date as well. I also don't like it when doctors/researchers spend half the book talking about how brilliant they are, which is the case for this book.

A fantastic, well written book that covers all the current and emerging Parkinson's therapies in a concise and easy to read format. Dr. Okun breaks down the reasoning behind various therapies and provides pertinent background and historical information. As a clinician, I found this book very helpful in getting a bird's eye view of all the latest developments in the field, all in one place. Furthermore, the language can be easily digested by a person without a medical background. I will be enthusiastically recommending this book to my patients and their family members as they are always thirsty for more information.

Another great book from Dr. Okun. For anyone who wants to understand the big picture of the latest research, in a very readable and understandable way, this book is mandatory! There are really some great therapies to help increase quality of life for those with Parkinson's and Dr. Okun has so clearly outlined in this book.....he is also one of the most caring and patient-centered movement disorder doctors I have ever met....this book will not take you long to read but can definitely change your life if you implement some of these recommendations!!!

I work in ministry with college women, and this book was recommended to me by one of our students. I read it and was very impressed. We have spent years training our college women leaders on biblical conflict resolution, and this year, we added this book to the training. We had each of our leaders read it before their service, and it has been such a great asset in our ministry this year. Not only does the book address so many practical aspects of dealing with conflict, specifically with women, it also makes it clear that pursuing emotional and spiritual health daily is what provides the foundation for future success in resolving conflict in a God-honoring way. It has been a great resource for us, and I would strongly recommend this book to anyone in women's ministry, and it works great as a book study for leadership teams.

I wish there were far more books like this one, giving Christian women practical advice about what women's ministry is really like and how they can be prepared for (or react in) difficult times. I read this book very quickly and it held my attention throughout.My favorite part was the section about how men and women handle conflict differently, and how women are far more deeply hurt by things that men can compartmentalize.I also loved the authors' stories. They helped me gain insight. Overall, I definitely recommend this book.

This book may teach the reader how to protect herself from a broken spirit and or how not to inflict brokeness to the spirit of others.

A great book that points to using God's Word for resolution conflict. Unfortunately this book is very needed. I was using it in my life before I finished it and tried to read quickly so I had the resources immediately.

This resource was very enlightening and helpful in seeing how to biblically deal with conflicts always with a view to restoration. Highly recommended for anyone in ministry at any level. When I finally convinced my parents that a mac would solve some of their computer issues, the next step was walking them through the transition of using it. Although I'm a fairly good teacher, I needed something stronger to make it easy for them. Especially at times when I can't be there to show them. This worked perfectly.To the point that they no longer even needed me to walk them through anything.Rather than just writing out how to do something, every step shows a photo of what your computer monitor will look like when you do and WHERE you are supposed to click on something. This saves so much time looking for certain buttons, or clicking on the wrong thing. It walks you through all you need to know to get working on an imac, no matter what experience you have had before.Whether buying it as a guide to teach yourself, as a tool to teach someone else all the really important things you need to know, or even as a instructor for the novice to use themselves, this was a really useful guide...my dad said it was like the instruction model that should have come with the computer to start.

I've been using PCs for almost 20 years, but grew tired of the bugs/viruses and continual glitches. Finally bought a iMac but had never used Apple operating systems. This book is as basic as it gets, and that's what I needed...picture by picture illustrations of various tasks. If that is what you are looking for, this is the book for you. If you have ANY experience with Macs, this is probably too basic for you and you'd be ill-served with the purchase. If you're a baby Mac user like me, this will help you get through the initiation!

I have recently started using a Mac having been a PC user for many years and although I found most things intuitive, I kept running into the occasional problem and needed help which is why I purchased this book. At first glance I must admit I thought it was too basic, but I could not have been more wrong. It is very easy to follow and understand and makes learning how to get the most from my Mac a fast process. Would strongly recommend this book to anyone starting out with a Mac, or moving from a PC. A great reference guide and something my wife who has also switched to a Mac, never leaves far from her side.

The Teach Yourself books are great. Being a PC person I needed some guidelines for my new iMac. This book provided me with tips and guidelines that I needed to make myself more proficient on the iMac. The book provides an easy and sensible way to get comfortable with this new piece of equipment. Kudos to the publishers and the people who created this.

This book explains, shows and nunbers everything you need or want to do on your Mac computer. It is really a great and valuable book for anyone to have.I have already gone through it so many times that I might have to buy another at a very reasonable price I must add. :-) Thank you!

Great book for learning about the iMac. It is easy to read and provides what I needed to get started working on my new iMac. I read and highlighted it and now keep it beside me at the computer for reference when I get stuck on something.

Great reference book if your new to an Apple computer. Easy to understand. I purchase the iMac and was clueless on a lot of the things the computer could do. This book helped a lot and explaining step by step on how to use your iMac easily.
