So funny. I love this book. I'm only about 90 pages in, but I laughed so hard my sides hurt. Love it so much I had to get another one as a Christmas gift for a close friend. The lesson in the chapter "The good, the bad, and the ugly" was so ridiculous, and so far my favorite part. Lots of adult language, so not for young readers.

Leon is a great character on curb your enthusiasm and this book reflects the character. At times gut bustingly funny, it's an irreverent look at the world and a fun read.

Hilarious read! Had me constantly cracking up. I heard JB on Howard Stern and immediately downloaded the book. Now I use quite a few terms in the book on a regular basis. I can't type those words here though. They wouldn't print the review. The POHTA definitely brings the ruckus.

Rachel Winson, MA, MSc, an advanced occupational therapist, is currently working as part of a community neurorehabilitation team at the University of East Anglia, in Norwich, Norfolk, United Kingdom. Previously, she worked at The Oliver Zangwill Centre for Neuropsychological Rehabilitation, in Ely, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom, which provides high-quality evidence-based neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation to patients with acquired brain injury. Ms. Winson has also worked in an acute inpatient stroke rehabilitation setting and in dementia research. Barbara A. Wilson, OBE, PhD, a clinical neuropsychologist, is founder of The Oliver Zangwill Centre for Neuropsychological Rehabilitation in Ely, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom. She has worked in brain injury rehabilitation since the 1970s. Dr. Wilson has published 23 books, 280 journal articles and book chapters, and 8 neuropsychological tests, and is editor of the journal Neuropsychological Rehabilitation. She has won many awards for her work, including three lifetime achievement awards, the Ramón y Cajal Award from the International Neuropsychiatric Association, and the M. B. Good book on rules of thumb design of aircraft. It shows using simple language and examples the relationships between the multiple design choices that goes into an aircraft design

I think Raymer has done a great job of condensing college level texts into a basic / fundamental design resource. As he mentions in the beginning of his book, this is not a complete source for aircraft design. So it would be a good idea to be familiar with other sources and information before launching into the design and building of your own airplane.

Based on the reviews and the author's other book "Aircraft Design, a Conceptual Approach" (which is a must have I think for anyone interested the topic of aircraft design) I was looking forward to this book. Sadly I was not impressed. Maybe I'm "past" the level the book is aimed at, but I found the book very light in content.Given the rather high cost of this book I can't recomend it to anyone that is serious about designing and building their own airplane. I don't believe after reading it you would be any closer to being able to design you own airplane. You weren't given any real information about aircraft structures, aerodynamics, materials or flight systems. For example wood is totally ignored as a potential materials.Skip this and consider the book from the author I mentioned earlier (Aircraft Design: A Conceptual Approach (Aiaa Education Series) or find the series of articles printed in Kitplane Magazine written by Donald R Crawford Airplane Design: A Series of Articles Printed First in Kitplanes Magazine

Having done similar work years ago in my early career, I find this book to be a great balance of comprehensive (hitting the key topics) while also being concise (my college text books take up far more space). I enjoyed his style of writing. It was conversational, keeping it light where it could be, and serious where it must be. I also agree with his frequent advice; remember that this is preliminary work, with lots of detailed analyses and testing and caution to follow. Nicely done.

A great intro to engineering your own aircraft. An easy read even for someone like me, who abhors formulas and mathematical equations (even if they are necessary evils in this case). It holds true to its name, so, if you are an engineer, you might want to go for this writer's more complex titles. If you are an ordinary joe like me, who is interested in homebuilt aircraft, this is just right.

The thing I like about this book, is how Dr. Raymer de-mystifies the process of analyzing aircraft design. The process as he lays it out, is totally different from how I had always approached it.That said, the formulas quickly left me in the weeds. The nice thing about that was how well he explained the point of the formula, so I can figure them out eventually. Plus, he gives you the common value derived from the formula. Since we're looking at common homebuilt designs, the normal range of values will generate designs with reasonably predictable performance characteristics.I especially liked how Raymer keeps the design open to unusual configurations. pusher/tractor, canard, asymmetric, are all fair game, as long as the formulas and ratios work out. That really frees the designer to break out of the boxes that seem to constrain light plane design these days.When you talk to aircraft builders, there are often engineer types who delight in telling the amatuers how unsafe and impractical every new idea is. Raymer's book let's you find that out for yourself, without the condescension. It also shows you just how close to practical the idea is....maybe just a little tweek is all an idea needs to be brilliant.

Perfect intro for newbies. Nothing too taxing on your noggin' and you don't need advanced math/physics/mech engineering skills to follow along.

Great book for me as I'm a Mechanical Designer (not an engineer) I'll be reading back over this book again and again as I design my first plane.

Love Weinzweig's writing. While customer service seems like something that you either "have" or "don't", the author really makes clear the steps that must be taken to ensure a consistent service throughout an organization. Must read if you're in the food service.

I live in Ann Arbor where Zingerman's is located. For many year I have enjoyed their great food and great service. As a buniness man, Ari is a great one. When Zinggy's was a little store they made millions. Now it is a larger complex and they make much more more than they did then. Everytime I have an issue like "this sandwish is too small," they take it seriouly, correct it and treat me as a king to make sure I am a happy customer. This book practices showing why they are so successful. Anybody who wants to do great in his/her business should read this book. It is filled with simple, uncommon and effective practices to make your business successful.

This book is short and packed with great information. This is a great guide that teaches any business how to interact with their "customer" in the most profession, beneficial, courteous and profitable manner. The book refers to the Zingerman's group of business located in Ann Arbor MI, which are service based businesses. But, with a little thought and creativity the lessons taught in this book can easily translate to other, non-service, businesses. Additionally, there a few references in the book to systems and forms that Zingerman's has used successfully for years. They offer these resources via their phone line, but you can also go to the Zingerman's website and download them for free. A nice touch that adds even more value to this already great book.

After purchasing Zingerman's Guide to Good Eating, a wonderfully informative book about cheese, bread, olive oil, chocolate and many other artisan foods, I had high hopes for this book. On the positive side, it contains many excellent ideas on providing truly distinguished customer service, which are presented in a succinct, easy-to-read style. However, this book would have been more compelling if the author had illustrated these ideas with specific examples of how Zingerman's staff have provided superior service to customers or how they have handled difficult or unusual situations with customers. On the very last page of the book, Mr. Weinzweig writes: "Tell service stories. The knowledge of things that staffers do to provide guests with great service needs to be shared. People like to hear stories." Too bad that he didn't take his own advice when putting this book together.

Bought this book for my dad, a small business owner. He loves reading books about successful businesses, and good customer service, so this book seemed perfect. He loved it!He was so excited he now wants to attend one of Zingerman's training seminars.Since I haven't read the book I'm not sure how the reading goes, but it seems like a great book for anyone who wants to learn how to provide better customer service.

Mr. Roppatte wrote this book of fashion in the 1980's. I only wish he would update it and make it more contemporary. The title complements its real intention. This is a superb compilation of the fashion 'types' of women (which could also apply to men!). For instance, if you are a "Girl Next Door type", you will get an indepth, accurate description of your likes and interests and how you tend to dress for your personality category, and ultimately, the man you will attract or be attracted to. There are about five more personality type-descriptions mentioned in the book, but you have to read it to find out. It will be worth the purchase!!! You more than likely fit into one of them. The book is entertaining, fun to read, and amazingly true!

I bought this book in the *80's" and needed a new copy. Really helps define a personal style. Timeless. Highly recommend!
